Don't Give Up v4 — For Punch. For You. For Everyone Still Trying.

In February 2026, a seven-month-old Japanese macaque named Punch-kun became the most loved animal on the internet.

Born at Ichikawa City Zoo, just outside Tokyo, Punch was abandoned by his mother within days of his birth during a brutal summer heatwave. For months, his only company was the zookeepers who hand-raised him — and a stuffed IKEA orangutan plushie they gave him for comfort. He dragged it everywhere. Slept on it. Tried to make it hug him back.

When it was time to rejoin the troop, the other monkeys didn't welcome him. They swatted him away. Ignored him. Pushed him off branches. Clip after clip went viral — millions of people watching a tiny monkey get rejected, pick himself up, clutch his plushie a little tighter, and walk back in to try again.

The zoo's own statement said it best: "Punch possesses very strong mental resilience and recovers quickly. We hope you will see it as cheering for and supporting Punch's persistence and efforts."

And then, slowly, things changed. One monkey groomed him. Another let him sit close. He started playing with younger macaques his own age. He was figuring it out — one small, stubborn attempt at a time.

We watched Punch's story unfold in the same week we were working on the fourth version of our Don't Give Up collection. The timing wasn't planned. It just landed.

Because that's what "Don't Give Up, I Love You" has always been about. Not some motivational poster energy. Not toxic positivity. Just the quiet, honest thing you say to someone — or to yourself — when the day is heavy and you're still here anyway.

Punch didn't know tens of millions of people were rooting for him. He just kept going. With a stuffed toy twice his size and absolutely zero quit in him.
